You can’t visit Rio without seeing O Cristo Redentor, the statue of Christ the Redeemer. After all, it’s one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It’s worth it to pay the R$25 ($14 USD or so) to walk up to the top of Corcovado to get a sense for the scale of the statue and for amazing views of the city. But if you can’t make it up there on a clear day, don’t worry. In Rio de Janeiro, Jesus is everywhere.
The big guy up close:
Jesus from Sugarloaf (Pão de Açúcar):
Ipanema:
From Santa Teresa:
Maracanã Football Stadium!
Okay, I’m just exaggerating, but he’s really there!
You’d think the presence of Jesus everywhere would make people behave…but you’d be wrong.

Awesome shots!!! Though I must say I was a bit disappointed when I was finally up close & personal with him. What did you think?
ha! these are adorable! looks like a great trip!
I say it’s best to take a cab ride…I went earlier this year and although it costs a bit more, you get to see more (takes you to two points instead of one) and move at your own pace.
The pics came out great! It was mostly overcast while I was there and I didn’t get many good pics of the statue
